Ivan Davis is a distinguished American pianist of the latter half of the twentieth century. This study will document his career as a pianist and teacher and his views and philosophies on teaching.His long and remarkable career spans the areas of competitions; solo, orchestral and collaborative performances; recordings; and teaching. In his New York Times review of Davis's Town Hall Debut in 1959, Harold Schonberg declared Davis established himself as "one of the superior American pianists."
