Abstract

This work comprises two novels that are meant to be bound together back to back, upside down to each other and meeting at their ends, so that they can be read in either order. Due to thesis formatting constraints, here they will be presented as continuously paginated sections, but they are actually intended to be two separately numbered novels and either one can be read first. "His" section is a mystery about a New York City private investigator hired by a Los Angeles film family to find a missing femme fatale. "Hers" is a story about a young woman coming to terms with her mental illness and with her family's past. Put together, they are a hermaphroditic love story with two heads.
