Neuropsychological Characteristics Of Persons At Risk For Huntington's Disease
Date of Award
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Forty adults at risk for Huntington's disease completed a neuropsychological test battery which included parts of the Halstead-Reitan battery, the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, the Bender Gestalt, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, and the Benton Vlisual Retention Test. Cluster analysis of the results revealed two groups of subjects, one of which performed significantly less well than the other on measures of intelligence, visual memory, and visual motor integration. It is hypothesized that this group is composed of gene-carriers of Huntington's disease and that these subjects may develop Huntington's disease.
