Abstract

Conventional Josephson junctions are of the S-N-S type. In this study, an investigation of the possible AC Josephson effect in Superconductor-Normal point contacts will be carried out. The advantage that S-N point contacts have over the conventional Josephson junctions is the extreme simplicity and hence the low cost of their fabrication. The distribution of superconducting order in S-N point contacts is studied. The method of investigation is based on a numerical approach to the Ginzburg-Landau non-linear differential equations. The current distribution will be determined. A prediction will be made about the AC Josephson effect in S-N point contacts.
