This study focuses on the analysis and discussion of the solo piano works of a Cuban-American composer: Aurelio de la Vega. The study examines the composer's creative activity, the different periods in his compositional styles, and his role as an educator and musicologist. The works examined are Prelude No. 1 (1944), Prelude No. 2 (1944), Prelude No. 3 (1944), Rondo (1948), Epigram (1953), Danza Lenta (1956), Toccata (1957), Minuet (1957), Antinomies (1967), and Homenagem (1987).The study also includes a historical perspective of the Cuban music before and up to de la Vega's time and a biography of the composer.
