The objective of the Special Programme of Chemicals and Health Branch of UN Environment is to support country-driven institutional strengthening at the national level, in the context of an integrated approach to address the financing of the sound management of chemicals and wastes, taking into account the national development strategies, plans and priorities of each country, to increase sustainable institutional capacity for the sound management of chemicals and wastes throughout their life cycle. Currently, seven approved projects of first round application i. The 2nd round application is still in process. A total of 40 applications were received and waiting for the final approval on the third Executive Board Meeting. During my internship in the Special Programme, I drafted the Project Cooperation Agreement (PCA) of seven approved projects from the first round application among UN Environment, government and implementing organizations. Based on the feedback and suggestions from the two round applications, I assisted my supervisor in revision of the application forms and application guideline. I also managed the 2nd round of applications for the Special Programme (February to June 2017) and the appraisal of the proposed projects. As for regular work, I maintained and updated the Special Programme website on a regular basis, providing up to date information on the activities being undertaken. Furthermore, the communication and outreach (Communication workshop, communication strategy and “open clinic” on the Conference of Parties for Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions) were also developed with my assistance.
