SEVENSEAS Marine Conservation & Travel magazine was first published in June, 2015 with a mission to create a strong network of marine conservation professionals while inspiring the next generation of conservationists. As SEVENSEAS continues to grow, more support is needed to create a sustainable financial future for the organization and to create content that will expand the reach and recognition of the brand. This internship report focused on two primary responsibilities at SEVENSEAS. The bulk of the project included content creation in the form of original articles for monthly issues of SEVENSEAS, as well as the planning and execution of the first ever special edition of SEVENSEAS. The special edition focused on whales, dolphins, and porpoises, including topics such as conservation and management, research, and responsible ecotourism. SEVENSEAS’ cetacean special edition will be released to the public on www.sevenseastravelmagazine.com in the first quarter of 2017. The project also includes a development component in the form of grant writing, formation of strategic partnerships, networking, and sponsor relations. Development efforts resulted in an increased reach, participation in an environmental film making workshop, and negotiations regarding financial support from newly established partnerships in the non-profit and private sectors.
